Answers to common questions about Southern Surfaces LLC, our installation process, payment options, workmanship warranty, and service areas across Southwest Florida.
They can if the floor is not prepared correctly. This is especially important with glue-down vinyl, thinner floating floors, or floors installed over heavily textured tile. Deep grout joints can “telegraph” through the new floor over time. Proper preparation may include filling grout joints, flattening the surface, or using the correct underlayment before installation.
Large-format tile does not bend or hide imperfections. If the floor or wall is wavy, the tile can show lippage, uneven grout joints, or hollow spots. Bigger tile usually means more prep, more layout planning, and more attention to detail. A clean finished look starts before the first tile is ever installed.
Sometimes, yes, but terrazzo has to be prepared correctly. Terrazzo is usually very dense and smooth, so thinset may not bond properly without mechanical prep. The surface often needs to be ground or scarified so the mortar has something to bond to. Poor preparation can lead to bond failure later.
Sometimes, but it is not always guaranteed. New tile, waterproofing, wall build-out, or curb changes can slightly change the finished measurements. Shower glass is usually measured very tightly, so even a small difference can affect whether the old glass fits properly. It is always better to plan for this before the tile work starts.
